47 Ronin - The New Japanese Poster And Trailer (Dec 2013)

47 ronin, keanu reeves
The upcoming Keanu Reeves vehicle, 47 Ronin is gaining its momentum in their marketing effort (especially from their Japanese distributors). From its first international trailer (click here to view the formerly released trailer and movie posters), it does look much more interesting than his directorial debut, Man Of Tai Chi

Today, I am going to share one Japanese Poster (which I like the tone of the poster a lot) and one Japanese trailer of 47 Ronin, new footage can be found in this short trailer.

47 Ronin is being directed by Carl Erik Rinsch (his first featured film) and it also stars Hiroyuki Sanada, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Tadanobu Asano, and Rinko Kikuchi. Short synopsis of the film:

A band of samurai set out to avenge the death and dishonour of their master at the hands of a ruthless shogun

Pompeii - Teaser Trailer Of This Historical Volcanic Disaster Looks Promising (Feb 2014)

First, I must admit that I like disaster movies, especially those involved volcanic eruption (hence, I've watched Dante's Peak [1997] three times and Volcano [1997] two times, all in the cinemas). Thus, you might say that there is a slight bias regarding this post title of Pompeii (as it is a movie revolves around the historical eruption of Mt. Vesuvius). However, I am quite sure you will agree with me after watching this epic teaser trailer.
Dante's Peak (1997)
Volcano (1997)
Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson (whom last brought us the successful franchise sequel, Resident Evil - Retribution [2012]), even with lesser known casts like Kit Harington, Emily Browning and Carrie-Anne-Moss, this disaster-theme movie still worth the wait and I am looking froward to it in 2014.
Resident Evil - Retribution (2012)
Short synopsis of Pompeii:

Set in the days leading up to the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, a slave on a ship heading for Naples works to get home to save the woman he loves and his best friend, a gladiator trapped inside the city's coliseum.

Pompeii will be released on 28th Feb 2014 in 2D and 3D. Now, enjoy the first teaser trailer below.

So far, all the released trailers and movie stills are pointing it to a glorious epic to be and I am very looking forward to it. Short synopsis of Thor - The Dark World:

When Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) is targeted by the denizens of the dark world of Svartalfheim, Thor sets out on a quest to protect her at all costs.

Ben Affleck Is Officially The New Batman

ben affleck is the next batmanWow! This official news really taken me by surprise. Just a few days ago, producer, Christopher Nolan has announced his strong recommendation of the potential cast of the new Batman (it's not Ben Affleck, click here for his recommendation) and now the official news is saying otherwise. So, in Man Of Steel 2, we will be seeing the face-off between Henry Cavill (Superman) and Ben Affleck (Batman).

By the way, Ben Affleck is not new to the superhero role, he was the Daredevil in 2003's Daredevil. Of course, Batman is different level of superhero (as compared to Daredevil) and I just hope that he can successfully assume the role and create a brand new dark knight!

Let's wait and see (Man Of Steel 2 is slated to be released in 2015). Following is the official announcement from Warner Bros (via The Wrap):

Last month’s surprise announcement of the new movie featuring both Superman and Batman created a wave of excitement and immediately fueled discussion and debate—among fans as well as in the media—about who would put on the cape and cowl of Bruce Wayne’s alter ego.

Snyder successfully re-imagined the origin of Clark Kent/Superman in the worldwide blockbuster “Man of Steel,” which has earned more than $650 million worldwide to date, and climbing. The director will now create an original vision of Batman and his world for the film that brings the two DC Comics icons together.

In the announcement, Greg Silverman stated, “We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some. His outstanding career is a testament to his talent and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of this character.”

Snyder also expressed his excitement about the casting of Affleck, noting, “Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him.”

Sue Kroll added, “We are so thrilled that Ben is continuing Warner Bros.’ remarkable legacy with the character of Batman. He is a tremendously gifted actor who will make this role his own in this already much-anticipated pairing of these two beloved heroes.”

Affleck recently starred in the Academy Award®-winning Best Picture “Argo,” which he also directed and produced, earning acclaim and a BAFTA Award nomination for his performance in the film, as well as a number of directing honors. In 2010, he starred in and directed the hit crime thriller “The Town.”

His recent acting work also includes “The Company Men,” “State of Play,” and “Hollywoodland,” for which he received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor. Earlier in his career, Affleck starred in and co-wrote (with Matt Damon) “Good Will Hunting,” for which he won an Oscar® for Best Original Screenplay.

So, what do you think about this news?

Cheers!

New Photos Of The Hobbit - The Desolution Of Smaug (Dec 2013)

the hobbit the desolution of smaugA few days after releasing 2 new HD movie stills for the upcoming blockbuster sequel The Hobbit - The Desolution of Smaug, Warner Bros has just released 2 more new HD movie stills, featuring the beautiful Tauriel (Evangeline Lilly) and Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman).

Short synopsis of The Hobbit - The Desolution Of Smaug:

After successfully crossing over (and under) the Misty Mountains, Thorin and Company must seek aid from a powerful stranger before taking on the dangers of Mirkwood Forest--without their Wizard. If they reach the human settlement of Lake-town it will be time for the hobbit Bilbo Baggins to fulfill his contract with the dwarves. The party must complete the journey to Lonely Mountain and burglar Baggins must seek out the Secret Door that will give them access to the hoard of the dragon Smaug.

Man Of Steel 2 - Would Wes Bently Be The Next Batman?

wes bently as next batmanWith the success of Man Of Steel, in local (US) and international box offices, a sequel is inevitable. Man Of Steel 2 is already a confirmed project and it is slated to be released in 2015. Zack Snyder will continue to helm the directorship (David S. Goyer continues to write for the sequel too). I enjoyed Man Of Steel and looking forward to the sequel.

As the director briefly disclosed previously that the sequel will be a "face-off" between Superman and Batman. We all know that Henry Cavill will reprise the role of Superman, so who will be the batman? (since Christian Bale has previously announced that he has played enough of Caped Crusader and would not be the batman anymore).

Recently, rumour has resurfaced again (from the mouth of producer Christopher Nolan himself) about the potential next batman. Accordingly to CosmicBookNews, Christopher Nolan has strongly recommend Wes Bently as the next Batman (Bently is currently working with Christopher in a sci-fi and time travel movie project called Intersteller).

Bently was last seen in The Hunger Games (2012) as Seneca Crane. He is handsome, has sharp eyes and black hair which is quite fit the appearance of a typical Batman. In fact, I don't mind him being the next Batman. Of course, nothing is confirmed yet but I do hope for a new Batman.

However, another more prominent biography, Jobs (Ashton Kutcher) detailing the life of Apple CEO, Steve Jobs didn't do well at all in the box office, it managed to open at seventh spot with mere $6.7 millions. Do You Know There Will Be Two HERCULES Movies In 2014?

hercules 3d and hercules the thracian wars
Yes! This is not a joke, in 2014, you will be presented with 2 Hercules movies and they are not sequel or prequel to each other. Both are having different casts, directors and completely different story lines.

I am not too sure whether we will get Hercules overdose then but the good news is that we have about 3 months or so of breathing time as the first Hercules movie (Hercules 3D) will be in cinemas in Mar 2014 and the second Hercules movie (Hercules: The Thracian Wars) will be in cinemas in July 2014.

Keep reading to check out more details about these two upcoming Hercules movies.

What Does Simon Pegg And Vin Diesel Has In Common?

groot from Guardians of the galaxyOn one hand, Simon Pegg is a British writer, producer and actor (comedian) of which we last saw him in The World's End. On the other hand, Vin Diesel is a producer, director and actor (action) of which we last saw him in Fast & Furious 6.

Besides both being a producer and an actor, what else do they have in common?

No, definitely not their appearances...

What else???

In fact, what they have in common is their savviness in using the Social Media, especially in creating the much-needed hype (or free marketing) about their rumoured upcoming roles.

Don't have a clue of what I am talking about? Keep reading to find our more...

300 Rise Of An Empire - Second Trailer (Mar 2014)

300 rise of an empireI totally enjoyed the 2006's Greek mythological blockbuster movie, 300. A visually stunning masterpiece directed by Zack Snyder (his recent masterpiece is Man Of Steel). Seven years later, a sequel (300: Rise Of An Empire) is on its way to cinemas near us (in 2014).

Zack Snyder is co-producing this sequel and it will be directed by a new director, Noam Murro. From the earlier trailer, it seems to be another visual extravaganza.

Short synopsis of 300: Rise Of An Empire (source: IMDB.com):

After its victory over Leonidas' 300, the Persian Army under the command of Xerxes marches north towards the major Greek city-states. The Democratic city of Athens, first on the path of Xerxes' army, bases its strength on its fleet, led by admiral Themistocles. Themistocles is forced to an unwilling alliance with the traditional rival of Athens, oligarchic Sparta whose might lies with its superior infantry troops. But Xerxes still reigns supreme in numbers over sea and land.

Sometime back, Warner Bros has released the second international trailer of the movie, with new footage and more graphically stunning visual, I am looking forward to Mar 2014 to watch it in IMAX 3D.

For my earlier coverage of 300: Rise Of An Empire, click here. Else, keep reading for the second trailer...

Young Detective Dee - Rise Of The Sea Dragon (狄仁杰之神都龙王) (Sep 213)

young detective dee rise of the sea dragon
Detective Dee (狄仁杰) is equivalent to the Sherlock Holmes of the ancient east. The mysterious cases under his charge has been told and re-told in various forms like novels, TV series and movies.

The most recent movie portraying Detective Dee was helm by Hong Kong's popular director, Tsui Hark (徐克), with the title of Detective Dee And The Mystery Of Phantom Flame (狄仁杰之通天帝国) [2010]. Mix the intriguing plot with the strong casts like Andy Lau (刘德华), Lee Bin Bin (李冰冰), Tony Leung Kar Fai (梁家辉) and Carina Lau (刘嘉玲), it storms the box offices in many Asian countries and thus a sequel/prequel is unavoidable.

Three years later, Tsui Hark once again take on the directorship and produce another epic to-be prequel,  Young Detective Dee : Rise Of The Sea Dragon (狄仁杰之神都龙王). As the name implied, younger casts are expected and this time round, a good share of the movie will be shoot underwater and it becomes one of the first Asian 3D underwater movie.

Young Detective Dee : Rise Of The Sea Dragon (狄仁杰之神都龙王) will be released in September 2013 in selected Asia countries. For more movie details, keep reading.

Guest Review - The Conjuring (non-3D)

the conjuring
The Conjuring is easily one of the best horror movie in the recent years. A great movie need not be with huge budget but it sure need to be with great casts (Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson) and superb director (James Wan). After 2010's Insidious, James Wan up his ante once again and created another terrifying horror movie franchise (The Conjuring 2 is already in the pipeline, click here for the potential story line).

Even though The Conjuring is not a 3D movie but it is so good that it warrants a guest review in my blog. My friend, Ben is here again to share his review of the movie.

Enjoy!

Weekly Box Office Movies in US (Ending 2013/08/11)

Here are the TOP 5 Movies from US for the week ending 11th Aug 2013 (Sun).

Last weekend, all the 4 new releases performed pretty well and wallop the US box office with encouraging sales. As expected, Elysium (Matt Damon, Jodie Foster) tops the chart with $30.4 millions. Equally outstanding (in terms of sales) is the R rated comedy, We're The Millers (Jennifer Aniston , Jason Sudeikis) came in second with $26.6 millions.

The other two releases, Planes (spin-off from the cars animation) and Percy Jackson : Sea Of Monsters (sequel to 2010's Percy Jackson And The Olympions : The Lightning Thief) came in third and forth.

Woohoo! Two Sequels That I Am Hoping For Are Confirmed Projects Now

sequel for now you see me and the conjuring
Sometimes, immediately after you've finished the movie, the only thing that you are wish for is a sequel, because it is so good that one is never enough. They are not many such movies around in the recent year (as mostly the blockbusters now are sequels anyway).

Having said that, this year alone there are two movies that particular caught my eyes and I was silently hope for a sequel (or prequel) immediately after the show. They are Now You See Me and The Conjuring. My wishes are granted and basing on confirmed report, sequel of these two movies are in the pipeline! Woohoo!

Now You See Me is a movie about tricks and magics, I must say that the twist at the end (as in who is the master mind) really caught me by huge surprise. I hope all the casts (Mark Ruffalo, Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, and Woody Harrelson) are back to reprise their respective roles and give us another stunning twist.

As for The Conjuring, it is easily one of the scariest horror movies in the recent years and it is still showing in the cinemas near you. Basing on an unconfirmed source (GeekTyrant), following is the potential story line of the sequel and I hope it is for real as it seems to be a terrifying horror movie:

"The case file they’re looking at occurs in the late ’70s and centers on two sisters in Enfield, England, who were allegedly possessed. Warren said she personally saw them levitate and even saw one of the sister dematerialize in front of her only to be found 20 minutes later stuffed into an over sized fuse box, contorted in such an unnatural way that they couldn’t have replicated it if they tried. She also said that the demon spoke directly to her husband on many occasions. Warren cited this case as one of the most terrifying experiences of her career.”

Have you watched either or both of the movies? How do you find them? Are you happy that the sequels are on their way? Feel free to share your view in the comment section.

Cheers!

10 Impossibly Cute Minions Inspired Cosplay Character Arts

minion
Who doesn't like minions

Who doesn't want to get more of minions

Minions are everywhere nowadays. In fact, it has created massive massive queues in Singapore and Malaysia when the famous Fast Food Chain (read McDonald's) decided to bring in the minions character toys series. All of them sold out in all branches within hours of release.

I've watched the Despicable Me 2 and kind of like the cute little monsters too. I can fully understand why so many people are so crazy about them. One word: CUTE!

By the way, minions will be having their own movie in Dec 2014. Besides, Steve Carell (voice of Gru), Sandra Bullock will be in the project too (voice of Scarlett Overkill). Looking forward to it! ;-)

Today, I am sharing another form of art pieces (cosplay character arts) that were inspired by the minions (source: Guyism). Keep reading if you want to be bombarded by the cuteness of minions.

Thor : The Dark World - The Awesome New Trailer (Nov 2013)

thor the dark world
Thor : The Dark World is the highly anticipated sequel to the 2011's Thor. Chris Hemsworth reprises the titular semi-god role. Other casts like Natalie Portman, Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston and Anthony Hopkins return in this sequel too.

Loki (Tom Hiddleston) looks as dangerous and funny as ever and it makes him one of the most "like-able" villain in the super-hero movies.

Recently, Walt Disney Pictures has released an awesome full-length trailer that make it a MUST WATCH movie of the year. Short synopsis of Thor The Dark World:

When Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) is targeted by the denizens of the dark world of Svartalfheim, Thor sets out on a quest to protect her at all costs.

Thor - The Dark World will be in cinemas on 8th November 2013.

Jobs And Diana - 2 Epic Biopic's Latest Trailers [Non 3D]

jobs and dianaOne is a visionary from US that changed the world and the other is people's Princess from UK that touches millions. Both are iconic figures of our times. Today, I am going to share 2 trailers from 2 upcoming biopic movies, Jobs and Diana (both look equally promising).

Simple movie titles but complicated lives!

One important point that I must mention again (I mentioned it in my social networks earlier) is that both movies did amazingly well is selecting the right actor/actress to play the titular roles (Ashton Kutcher for Steve Jobs and Naomi Watts for Princess Diana), they seems to fit into the roles perfectly well (especially their similarity in apprearance).

Both are non 3D movies but after watching the trailers, I thought it is still worthwhile to share it with my readers here.

Enjoy!

Mission: Impossible 5 Is Coming And Christopher McQuarrie Will Direct It

mission impossible 5Good news for Mission: Impossible franchise fans, the long awaited sequel project about the fifth installment of this highly successful franchise is confirmed. Tom Cruise will be reteaming with Jack Reacher's director, Christopher McQuarrie in this project.
Another piece of good news is that the co-writer of Iron Man 3, Drew Pearce will be the writer for the film. The project will kick-off in 2014 and expected to be released in 2015.
While is it still at the early stage of the project and other casts are yet to be confirmed i.e would Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg and even Paula Patton be back to reprise their roles in Mission: Impossible 4 - Ghost Protocol? I guess a lot depending on the writer and the plot. In any case, it will be one of the blockbuster to look out for in 2015.

Having said that, one thing I am pretty sure is that the movie will be released in IMAX or IMAX 3D!
For more details about Jack Reacher (2012) and Ghost Protocol (2011), click on the images below:

Transformers 4 - First Glimpse Of The Explosive Behind The Scenes

transformers 4The fourth instalment of Transformers (temporary title is simply Transformers 4) will be without Shia LaBeouf. Replacing him will be the active again hunk, Mark Wahlberg (his last 2 noticeable movies are Ted [2012] and Pain And Gain [2013]).

Of course, Transformers without Michael Bay will not be transformers anymore. He continue to direct the movie. His vision is well proven many times over and hope this next instalment can be a new high to his directorship.

Transformers 4 will be in the cinemas in June 2014 and following is the short synopsis of the movie (source: IMDB.com):

A mechanic and his daughter make a discovery that brings down Autobots and Decepticons - and a paranoid government official - on them.

Recently, a couple of "behind of scene" videos have surfaced online and they look explosive and with oriental touch (in terms of locale and weapons i.e. swords are sighted). Can't wait for it to hit the cinemas.

Now, enjoy the videos..

Gravity - The New IMAX Poster

gravity, sandra bullockGravity, the upcoming Sci-fi is in the news again. I must say that I am very captivated by the numerous teaser trailers released so far. For my earlier post on Gravity, click here.

Through the short teaser trailers, you can feel the intensity and the despair faced by the main casts (mainly Sandra Bullock) at the far far away space....the outer space!

Recently, Warner Brothers released an IMAX Poster of Gravity which carry the similar despairs and solitary. I am so gonna watch Gravity in IMAX.

Gravity will be released in IMAX 3D on 4th Oct 2013. Short synopsis of the film:

Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney). But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone-tethered to nothing but each other and spiralling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth...and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

Now, enjoy the IMAX Poster.
